Having a Motorhome can be extremely exciting, offering adventures wherever the road may take you. It is a great way to spend your vacation, allowing you to experience many different sights without being burdened with a troublesome suitcase. It truly is freedom of the open road.
How Does Motorhome Insurance Work?
In Ontario Motorhomes or RV's are considered vehicles. They offer much of the same coverage as your car, including Liability, Accident Benefits, and Uninsured Auto. However there are a few differences:
Motorhome Contents - In your car you may have a few things such as a change of clothes, an extra pair of shoes, an umbrella and coat. In your motor home, you will have all the above plus enough to live for potentially a month or more away from home. Depending on the company, most motor home policies allow for a certain limit for contents of a motor home - but it is always best to check with us.
Value - Many companies offer Replacement Cost for new motor homes. This would give you the amount you paid for the motor home back or the cost to replace it with a similar one.
Motor Home vs Travel Trailer - Motor Homes and Travel Trailers are insured quite differently. Motor homes carry their own liability and placed on an auto policy, where travel trailers can go on either a property policy or an auto policy. Please ask us to further explain the differences.
